Wanaka's top three walks

Wanaka is an oasis of outdoor activities and there is no shortage of fabulous walks to do in and around the area.  Fearless Activewear in Wanaka has picked their three favourite walks.

Outlet Track

Take a relaxing stroll through picture perfect scenes. Begin the walk from Beacon Point or the Outlet Track Motor Camp.  This is a must do in Autumn when the poplar trees are changing colour.

Walk beside the Clutha River and head in the direction of Albert Town or start at the Albert town end.  The track is open to bikers as well so don't hesitate to opt for the biking option.

This easy, family friendly walk is a must-do if you’re staying nearby in Wanaka, you wont be disappointed.

Mt Iron

If you’re in Wanaka with time to spare or want some fresh air, you can't go past this walk.

After climbing the rocky knoll, you’ll be rewarded with incredible 360-degree views of the surrounding area. Take in views of local landmarks including The Pisa range, Upper Clutha Basin, Lake Hawea and Lake Wanaka and the mesmerising Southern Alps.

Breath taking and well worth the short climb, a great workout and all in around an hour return.

Roys Peak

The track begins by zigzagging along a steep 4WD track from the carpark to the conservation area. From there, continue on through wild tussock grasslands until you reach Roy's Peak summit.

Along the way, take time to enjoy the spectacular views from the ridgeline, which take in most of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding peaks, including Mount Aspiring.  This is not for the faint hearted and a great training walk.

Allow plenty of time as this is a big grunt!!  and make sure you are wearing comfy activewear.
